Seven Bends Candle Company was inspired by founder Angela’s deep roots in the Shenandoah Valley—a place where she spent her childhood swimming, fishing, and playing along the scenic Shenandoah River, known for its iconic seven bends. The name honors those meaningful memories and the natural beauty that shaped her life.
Angela has always had a deep appreciation for antiques and vintage treasures, captivated by their charm and the untold stories they carry. She also found a special connection to natural candles—drawn to their ability to create ambiance, evoke emotion, and bring warmth to any space.
Motivated by her love for Appalachian culture, timeless design, and the comforting power of scent, Angela founded Seven Bends Candle Company to create more than just candles—she set out to craft natural candles with intention and integrity.
In contrast to mass-produced options made with synthetic waxes and harmful additives, Seven Bends natural candles are hand-poured in small batches using 100% natural soy wax and clean-burning, non-toxic fragrance oils. Every candle reflects a commitment to sustainability, simplicity, and a return to nature.

Sustainability
We create with intention-from the ingredients to the vessels we use. Our natural candles are made with renewable waxes, clean fragrance oils, and lead free cotton wicks, for a clean, eco-friendly burn.
Many of our natural candles are poured into vintage and antique vessels, giving new life to beautiful pieces that might otherwise be forgotten. By upcycling these timeless finds, we reduce waste while offering you a candle that’s truly one of a kind-rich with character, history, and soul.

FAQs
What does ‘natural candle’ mean?
Our natural candles are created with soy wax that is sourced from American farmers. Soy wax is biodegradable, renewable, and clean burning. It produces less soot and harmful chemicals such as toluene and benzene. This reduction of indoor pollutants makes soy wax candles a healthier choice, especially for those with asthma or sensitivities to air quality.
Do you use chemical-free ingredients?
We do not add any additives or dyes to our candles. We also use what is called “Clean Scents” for our candle oils. We work with fragrance oil companies that have clean scent programs. These companies create oils that contain no known or suspected carcinogens, mutagens, reproductive toxins, organ toxins, or acute toxins. Our oils are vegan, cruelty free, and created without phthalates and ingredients found on California’s Proposition 65 list.
Where are your candles made?
All of our candles are made in a workshop in the owner’s home located in Potomac, MD.
“I wanted to give a unique hostess gift to a good friend that was hosting a dinner party. I reached out to Seven Bends and they were able to give us the perfect gift. Our host had recently traveled to Japan and loved the tea ceremonies of Japan. Seven Bends had created candles using vintage 1940’s Somayaki Soma Ware Tea cups from Japan. I don’t think I could have found a more perfect, unique gift for my friend. She loved the scent and the beautiful vessel. I loved that I was giving her a hand made, unique, natural candle to enjoy.”
